Project or Stock?
Asked by R34Skyline Dec 17, 2017 at 10:11 PM about the Ford Mustang
Question type: Car Customization
Should my first car be a project (salvage with certain amount of damage) or a stock car? Gas isn't really an issue at this point so both options aren't really limited to that.
Note: The car of choice is a Mustang V6 as I love the underdogs. :)

Only you can decide that. You know your mechanical skills and budget.

do yourself a favor buy a car with a good body and frame , and go from there less headache , take some friendly advise do not buy a car from the salvage yard . there junk , most yards won't sell cars once there in the yard and title work it is a big pain in the neck .
If you really want a project buy a good car with a bad engine and a clean title on Craig's List.

I'll look into this. I'm leaning more towards the project car as I do want somewhat of a show car. My friend has a 1986.5 Scirroco and that's his show car/project car and it makes me want a project car. But at the same time, I like my stock cars. I am a female, mind you, so I will make one decision then 5 minutes later change my mind. Hence why I asked.
Do want custom mechanicals or just cosmetics?
There is little reason to hot rod a V6. If you want to go fast start with a V8.

Well, there is that. But the V6 has always been the car I (personally) would want to show off first. My mindset is quite odd, might I say.
Good point Jim. Unless you have tools, experience, time, energy and MONEY your project may never hit the road. Buy a driver!
