Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 1986 crown victoria and my brake lights are dim but the middle brake light stays bright and when i turn on my running/head lights the brakes dont light up at all and the blinkers dont work but the middle light is still bright. Could this be a head light switch, i already replaced a stoplight switch.

It sounds to me that you may have a short to ground somewhere in the circuit. I would first start out by removing the rear tail lamp lenses, then with a test light check all rear circuit for correct operation.

ITS NOT A SHORT 2 GROUND IT IS A WEAK OR POORLY GROUNDED CIRCUIT CHECK YOUR GROUND LEADS ON THE TAIL BRAKE LAMP CIRCUIT

i agree with the reply of IQ. its a clear case of short wiring n lose earthing. check the wiring of blinkers n brake lights, there must be a short circuit.
