Question type: Maintenance & Repair
So I have a 2001 F350 7.3 Diesel truck and it intermittently dies while driving so
I put into neutral and rev engine [so i guess it doesn't really die] put back into
drive and it goes, one time i was able to not go into neutral and see if it would
just end up dying at side of road but after 10-15 seconds lightly pressing
accelerator it ran again ? Its frigging dangerous and I really need help please

Being a diesel, I would first check fuel filters that haven't been changed lately. Then scan for fault codes and fix accordingly.

Done all that , have replaced cam shaft sensor, accelerator pedal among other things , going to have to take back to diesel mechanic, told him symptoms and he doesn’t know. Will leave it with him for a week and hope it happens to him . Was hoping someone else had same issue but can’t find anything on any of these online forums , thanks though

Thanks, it does it about 3-4 times randomly in 200-300 miles for no reason , runs great and pulls 8,000lb trailer otherwise ? Just weird that it must still be running as I put it in neutral and can rev engine then back into drive and continue driving till next time it happens. Just sketchy when crossing a highway and semi coming , never know when it’s going to do it
Fuel pressure and flow are all important for a diesel. Low pressure could be from a worn injector pump.
