1992 F350 7.3 with weird starter issues.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I am purchasing a 1992 F350 7.3 IDI with the Banks
Sidewinder Kit. I got it from a nice ladies who's husband
passed away so I have no information on the truck lol.
Whenever you turn the key on at first and turn it over the
starter turns the engine over and as soon as you turn the
key off it continues to turn over even with the key out of
ignition. I have to snatch the battery cable off to get it to
stop, and as soon as I connect battery back it starts trying
to turn over again. I have changed the Solenoid on the
fender with no luck and I've even hooked the battery cables
up with all the wires off of solenoid on fender and the
starter still tries to turn over. What is going on? I dunno if
this has anything to do with it but I now have issues getting
any gauges lights, odometer, anything to turn on when I
turn The key on but the starter still tries to turn over lol.
Anyone else have this issue? Please please help!

Sounds like the ignition switch is messed up. Being an older vehicle, you might be able to replace the switch without have to deal with these electronic keys.
