Automatic with Overdrive? Let's start there. Meantime I will Google your Mercury and read up a little on it. What year??? Really matters, help me help you
Why my 1999 mercury grand Marquis won't shift int won't shift into 4th evey other gear shifts fine
1999 Mercury Grand Marquis, automatic transmission, 4th gear is a pressure control solenoid, There are no images of the solenoid that are not copyrighted, so I am not allowed to upload it, but this may help. You may have to replace the solenoid. Click to enlarge
Thanks if u think thts the problem how much do u think the repair. Will cost
Let me take a look. BRB
The part is $34. Labor.. unknown I have never done that and have no clue how long, hours, a mechanic would charge. But that will be the most expensive part, the labor. Call a transmission shop in your area and ask. They will know. They may try to sell you a rebuilt transmission and that would be somewhere around $1000 including installation
Thanks once again so wht part do I ask for when I go to the part store 2day
Shift solenoid. I don't know if a parts store would carry it, but I found that at RockAuto.com and do you know transmissions? If so, great, but if not it's not a DIY job.
Study that diagram. Enlarge it by clicking on it. It's very good and is a '99 Mercury Grand Marquis, not a generic
Ok thanks n b honests Idk anything about cars
Then unfortunately it is not a do it yourself. You need not be a master mechanic but you will need a decent tool set and at least some knowledge about transmission repair, Sorry to have to say that my friend but it may end up costing you. But do you take long trips, or have to drive on the freeway to work at 60 or so all the time? If not, you will be Okay to drive it around town and just have it shift up in to 3rd...giving you time to save up money if you need to (I know I would, things are getting tougher all the time) or if the wife drives it a few block to the grocery or whatever...not to worry. BUT if like I say you must have it to get to work, and have a moderate or long commute, it should be fixed
I'm a city.driver so I should b good thanks for ur time
