power

A year would help alot, but a '08 one has 304 horsepower
why don't they? cause A: V8 is a waist of gas B: the STi turns as much power as most V8's do anyway. and C: there is no V8 that sounds as mean as that Boxer4 of theirs. so why don't they do it? i wonder......
In addition to that, when referring to the Impreza, the design concept is completely different than any American "counterparts". The Impreza is designed to get you as quickly as possible from point a to b on any road surface and preferably with corners. The American V8 gas guzzlers are designed to go quick in a straight line. What the boxer-4 gives to this design concept is a low point of gravity (clearly visible in the picture you posted), which transfers to better handling. The downside of the boxer-4 is that it does not provide the same kind of power figures when tuned as a straight 4 like on the Evo. This is of course debatable, but when we restrict to getting the most bang for the buck, the Evo straight 4 is the better option. BTW, if you put equal length headers on the boxer-4, it does not sound like one anymore ;).
i agree completely. i'd take a evo9 or sti over a v8 anyday. more fun, more traction, and not that hard to get more power out of.
"Not that hard to get more power out of." Is an understatement. I have an 07 sti, flashed it stage two turbo now. Took me 10 minutes with a little device no bigger than a gameboy to gain 50+ horsepower. As far as the engine sounding different, Turbo back exhausts.... Keep the sound, and increase the power just as effectively.
I installed a GPMoto stainless equal lenth header , up-pipe and down pipe and full back, my car doesnt sound like a boxer any more. But also have a bigger turbo, FMIC,injectors, perrin fuel rails , 255- fuel pump, cold air intake, 44 mm wastegate.Trying to get it tuned right now. Should be around 460hp, for now...
I'm currently making 247whp/261wtq at 19psi, with just a K&N drop in filter, Cobb AP and a pro tune from EIP Racing in San Jose California.
V8's weigh to much and the car was built around the engine, and the weight distribution ratio is close to 50/50, im pretty sure, so you put a big ass torque making engine in the front say good bye to an evenly distributed car. and say good bye to all whell drive, good gas mileage, and a shit load of other things
V8's blow on fuel economy and the STi is a rally car. To compete in WRC, Subaru must have a 2.0L four cylinder in order to compete. That is why it is a four cylinder. Putting a V8 in one is a ridiculous idea and they did that to the Evo and it was horrible. These cars arent made to be RWD, they are meant to be cars that can handle with only the best supercars around the track.
Nice dude your car looks really clean. I got a WRB too, not gana be doing anything to mine for a few years tho bec. of college. 460hp would take most v8s out there with the AWD lol. I noticed alot of people with V8's have to get the attention, rev their engines all the time at people and stuff making themselves look like asses. They also try to street race all the time because their compensating for their small penis's. All the evo's and sti's i see just take it easy cause they know they are already badass and get on it when no ones around.
Thats probably the stupidest question ive ever heard.
