there is a so called "silent sprocket" responsible for distributor position. It's easy to mess this up, though you are on your marks, check to make sure the distributor is firing at the correct time- there is no room for error (like if you were off by a tooth) so check the ignition timing with regards to your valve timing..together-

Did u let it snap before u changed it? If so u need to rebuild the block because the engine could be ceased
Some mitz. Have two different timing marks on the heads. Not sure if this applies to yours but if you are unsure about how you set the timing do a compression check on each cylinder to insure that you have not bent some more valves. Hope this helps.

sometimes the timing tensioner can throw you off by a tooth. please check again. don't mess this up, I've done it on a customer's car, it will never feel the same again...no way to make it up to the guy...ooof.

of course select TDC and firing on one (a 180 rotation of the cam is wrong) the silent cam firing on one and the slack out of the tensioner, then let 'er rip (without all the plastic junk and radiator, to confirm)
