i need help with my cadillac converter

Asked by caitlinnbaby May 01, 2010 at 11:30 PM about the Mitsubishi Lancer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My engine light has been going on and off for the last few months, and I took it to auto zone and they said it was the "Cadillac converter warm up." They also said that you can only get this part at dealership and it's about 600 dollars. I don't know if the senors is wrong with it or if they could be a cheaper way to fix it. I'm a girl and don't know much about cars so i was hoping someone knew something to help. Thank you so much!

There was a recall on certain models that experienced premature catalytic converter failure. What exactly was the code number? You can buy a oem style catalytic converter for around $200 and universal ones are cheaper but may require modifications.
