Rear end differential

My Aztek just reached 92,000 miles and has developed a howling/grinding noise coming from the back. Back brakes were replaces, as was a rear wheel bearing, but the grinding noise continues. Appears to be coming from the rear differential. Is this a common problem? Anyone know if bearings are available or if I have to replace the entire differential unit?

I have the same problem with ours. Did you get your problem corrected? If so, what did you have done?
i had a howl in my gto and it turned out to be a rear wheel bearing. is it a constant howling or does it get louder when turning one direction and softer when turning the other? have you been keeping up on the maintenance for the rear end fluid? sometimes changing the fluid will help a lot with differential noise.
I had the same problem. It was spindle/Knuckle bushing in the rear. Here in Milwaukee the part cost $385.00 each, I went online to Auto Parts Direct and got then for $44.00 each. It solve the problems. I had first had both real bearing replace and it did not solve the problem but the spindle/ Knuckle corrected the problem
I had the fluid changed and it helped mine no sound after.

How much are rear differential? I have an 03 Aztek and most of the mechanics I have been to are guessing and the others was to charge me alot...I need help.
