Service ABS System and Stability system warnings

Asked by SoS101 Jun 02, 2017 at 05:20 PM about the Pontiac Montana

Question type: General

The 'Service ABS system' and 'Stability system' warnings came on the other
day on my 2008 Pontiac Montana (109,000 km). This happened many times
in the past with no problems that followed and seemed to have fixed itself
and didn't see the warning light anymore after a few days.  Driving home this
afternoon, I started to accelerate after turning onto a main street when I felt
like a jolt (it felt like the brakes where pressed and then released in split
second intervals). About 100 feet later, it happened again.  What could be
the problem and what should I do?  FYI: I regularly take it to the shop for oil
change and for the yearly maintenance (except for last year).  Thanks!

I am guessing that you have a bad wheel speed sensor or another ABS type fault. Changing your oil regularly won't prevent such things so don't feel bad.

Hmmm... are those the ones they install with the tires? Sorry, if that sounds like a stupid question. I just had them replaced when they installed my new tires a little over 1 year ago. Thanks for your response.

Check steer angle sensor. Gm products have been having this problem since 2000. Steer angle controls the traction control. When accelerating and turning or accelerating out of turn. It will turn and light and stability tract
