It would have to be more than just dirty, clogged yes. Check your oil and see if it looks right, hopefully it's not a tan/milky color. That would be baaaaad. A stuck thermostat will. Does your car overheat?

air bubbles appearing in the reservoir will generally come from a leaking head gasket or boiling coolant.
