how do you fix the idle if its too high in a 1987 s10 blazer 2.8 liter

Begin by looking for a vacuum leak. That 2.8 is early throttle-body fuel injection. If it's running a bit hot, not necessarily overheated but hotter than normal, that will indicate a lean running engine, and more evidence of vacuum leak
