Depends make sure all the plug ins are the same. They will bolt up regardless, they're all the same bellhousing. Depends what transmission you're using. If I'm thinking straight the 96 uses a 4l60e and MOST of the 95 and older uses a 700r4.

4L60E has been used since 1994 but was introduced in 1993

95 was cross over year. Late 94s (in hindsight are considered 95) uses the 4l60e. Early 95s have the 700r4. You could throw a 5 speed in it...also like the 99 has offset flywheel. 168 teeth(i think) where others are 164 or something.
