Diesel engines

All 3 manufacturers of full sized diesel pickups have there own quirks and problems. I like Fords 6.7 diesel, but it is expensive to maintain as are the others. Only buy a diesel pickup if you need it for towing. I would avoid the 1/2 ton Dodge Ecodiesel as it has issues with the DEF system and other problems.
Tennis shoes, I'm not sure of the difference between the two. Can you explain? Bob, I am thinking of towing but am my sure if it's worth the additional cost, nor how much I actually would be towing.
Getting an idea of your towing weight would be helpful. Diesel engines take about twice the quantity of engine oil than do gas engines. Diesels have fairly expensive fuel filters and they are difficult to work on due to the limited space available. Also if you are going to do lots of short trips around town some of the sensors can become sooted up requiring a trip to the dealership (a friend has this problem with a Dodge). What ever you buy I would recommend getting a vehicle that is under warranty as diesel repairs can run in the thousands of dollars.
