I am interested in buying an SSR. Is one year or engine more desirable to own?

the first answer is for sure right. I bought a 2005 ssr about 6 months ago and had driven a 2006 before I bought the 2005 and they are the same as far as power goes and the way they handled went. the 2005's should be a little cheaper price wise so that's why I bought the 2005. take your time and look around some and you should be able to find either a 2005 or 2006 that hasn't got to many miles on it (less than 20,000 or 30,000) at a pretty good price. I found one that had a little over 20,000 miles on it for $24,000 and thought that sounded pretty reasonable to me so that's what I got. forgot to tell you after I bought the 2005 I drove a 2004 that has 300 horsepower and the extra 100 horsepower or so made a big difference. good luck I love driving a ssr and believe me a lot of people will stop and tell you they love the thing you're driving but then ask you what the hell is it.

the 2005 and 2006 have the LS2 aluminum corvette motor. a 6 speed manual Tremec trans, aluminum driveshaft and heavy duty rea end is a rare option, Aqua Blur is the best color.

If you like the look of it, hurdle 1. If you don't need to haul mulch but golf bags, hurdle 2. If you don't check the daily gas price everyday, hurdle 3. If you want a 2 seater so other people won't ask you for rides, hurdle 4. If you are not a secret agent or don't mind police staring you down and checking their radar gun as you drive by, hurdle 5. If you want a linebacker of a car that can run with anyone short of a speedy wide receiver (05-06), hurdle 6. If you don't mind people standing by your car. taking pictures with it, or asking questions about it, hurdle 7. Buy it. It is impractical to own but a blast to drive. The porshe's and vette's were too low and the other muscle cars too dime a doze. No regrets!
