Mileage?

Well condition of those miles is the best verifier. My brother in law has one with lots of miles and he like Dodge. Except for the dash pads that crack up the only issue he has had is a rear axle bearing. But I do know someone that had to pay $2000 for a transmission for theirs, they bought it knowing it needed a transmission, just did not know it cost that much to replace. Both of these have well over 200k miles closer to 300k and still going. Late 1990's models.

A Dodge with ANY miles on it is too many. Your best bet is to get a Ford or Chevy. Once a Dodge gets past 100,000 miles, it's hard to give it away.

They can loose value somewhat faster I agree but if kept up can still be very dependable.
I have a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L V8 4x4 with 175,000 miles on it... and still going strong
I have a dodge ram 1500, I don't recommend getting Ford for the fact they die very often and are made out of cheaper material. Chevy is also a very dependable truck to buy used. The only problem Dodge has is rust, then the other normal problems vehicles get once they get old. I'd buy one max 150k miles as long as its a decent price.
I’ve had mine since 05, 191k miles. I am driving it now actually back to FL from NY.....a 3k mile trip. No issues since 05 other than had radiator replaced. Have always used synthetic. The idiot a couple answers up who said any dodge w miles is not worth buying is stupid. Don’t fall for the dodge vs Ford vs Chevy BS, they are all good trucks, and w proper care will last you 300k miles easy.

I think dodge had the dash iron out by the new body style for the third gen trucks, the second gen had issues with cracking, Glad to hear the 600K plus miles, my brother-in-laws is still going strong too.
I paid 2800 for an 03 dodge 1500 1 original owner. Swear to god looks brand spanking new inside, everything works and paint looks great, plugged in scanner. No codes, no emissions problems, passes smog, no oil leaks, no drama and it has 259k miles! Still running strong!!!!
My dad drives a dodge and it has a 6 inch lift on it. We had to put a chip in it but the rest is all stock. It is his weekend diver and it is blue. It has 37 inch tries on it and handles great. It is a very nice truck in all.

Got me an ‘05 1500 slt. Just hit 222,222 miles tonight! Woohoo! New radiator at around 100,000, new shocks about every 60,000. (Kinda been buying the cheap ones, and do a lot of city driving) Rebuilt the trans at 175000. But everything else is great. ( jealous of the guy who got a new drivers seat though. Mine is kinda busted.) sumbitch cleans up nice and purrs like a kitten. : )

My 03 Dodge ram 2500 has the 5.7L V8 hemi in it. Its just 290k miles and has Never skipped a beat on me! I had to replace the power stearing line one time and i put new sway bar linkages on it as a preventative thing. The dash is cracked but it's still running like a animal! Keep that oil changed and a Dodge will make you a believer
Kristopher answered 5 years ago
In short. Mine has 290k still running strong. Look on the road sides and see whats breaking down its not Dodges! I dont think there is a mileage marker to determine whether buying one is a good or bad idea since they can hit 7000k miles in some cases

My Father in Law gave me his 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, 4.7 Liter. It has 155K miles - Not hard miles, but he is an admitted cheapskate. With that said, I see on here a rebuild (how much does it cost and what does that entail to rebuild?). Chip? How has adding one affect the performance or gas mileage? Sway Bar Linkages? Does that help from fish tailing? Drove decently, yet was stranded my first night... I believe the A/C fan continued to run post engine shut down and drained the battery. So I jumped it. This was last night. Ugh. I have always wanted a Dodge Truck, but I have never bought a vehicle with over 100K miles on it. Even my 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo LS, only had 97K miles when I sold it in 2012 for $6K. I've always used Supreme Unleaded on all my vehicles - placed Supreme for the first time in this truck... So well see how it affects it. For the record, I've tested the Regular vs. Supreme gas theory and all my vehicles ran way better for sure. I did this over four years and there are only a couple of gas stations I trust. Okay, back to the Ram... The point: Should I invest in this truck (considering I will maintain truck), or should I leave it as isand run it to the ground? Here's my list: Door Controls are loose - Replace? Window Tint Passenger Side needs to be Replaced Needs to be Steamed Cleaned - Interior (or Reupholstered?) A/C Runs Post Engine Shutdown - Not sure why. Drained Battery - Cables to be Replaced (?) Check Alternator - precautionary Check Alignment - feels like it needs it. Check Brakes and Rotors. Check Radiator - Replace? Shocks (Hood for sure, not sure about suspension) Sway Bar? Chip? Check Rear Axle Bearing Radio Replacement (doesn't work). Speakers Replacement (factory - not working) Bedliner Replaced or Resprayed Tires Balanced & Rotated Spare Tire Patched - Slow Leak I am super confident this list will grow.... I am not trying to hijack this thread/post. I do believe these questions I have run with the spirit of what the OP is asking Thanks in advance for your answers. San Antonio, "Big" Henry
I have a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and I have over 198,000 miles and I still tow 4 jet skis, drive to work every day RT approx 30 miles. Ski in the winter so I do drive it in the snow. The only issue I have is the damper for the heater and air conditioner, I have had to fix the actuator in the air and heating system which was cheap to do, but it only last about 2 years and the heater side breaks again. The part cost less than $20. And I had a recall fixed on my axel in which Dodge paid $2300 to fix with no problem.
2013 RAM 1500 Sport 140000 miles, running strong.
I have a Dodge Ram and have 215,000 milles 2002 I bought when had 195,000 3 year ago and only expend 500 dlls on hater because cause a liquefaction and still strong also paint the hood and top of cabin because had rust but and my opinion is good.

Need help! I’m in need of a truck I came across a 2012 Ram 1500 SLT 4x4 Crew cab Transmission is original doesn’t have any issues. Exterior-body has minor details overall is well kept. Interior - has been well kept Engine was rebuilt- it has about 2000 miles driven since the rebuild. The truck original miles on odometer is 209,000. The owner is asking $8,000 is that a good price ? Is it worth buying something that has been rebuilt? I was gonna offer 6,000 cash. It’s priced at 6,000-8,000 BLue Kelly blue Book Thank you for any info
Currently have 256K on my '07 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT. Biggest pain issue I had was replacing all the blend doors to get the AC working again (had previously replaced compressor and dryer and heater core, to boot). I would suggest replacing all the blend doors with aluminum versions if you ever pull the dash for any reason. If one plastic blend door stop breaks the system goes into a limp home state (defrost always on). I did replace the headlight recently to get that new look.
Just drove my 2004 dodge 2500 2,700 miles across the country. No mechanical issues.

I have an '02 Ram 1500 4.7 that's just about to turn over 218k. I took it to Mississippi and back earlier this year pulling a small but packed camper and had my family of 4 along for the ride. I had all the fluids changed at 200k. Engine seems bulletproof and zero transmission issues. I run full synthetic and Wix XP filters. I put 305/55/20 wheels and tires on it last year and I love the way it looks so much that I never want to get rid of it. Take care of your truck and it will take care of you!

I bought 97 ram 1500 5.9 gas, now has 295000, don't burn a drop of oil. Regular maintenance works. I did have to put new tranny and transfer case in it in 2011, but I used it hard for plowing and 4x4 fun. Now it's just my everyday driver for city running for work. 5w-30 all I have ever ran in it.
