cold air intake throttle body spacer and flow master or magnaflow exhaust.
i have the flowmaster 40 series duals but what brand throttle body spacer and cold air intake do you suggest and thanks
I have twin super 40's and no cats on mine, and i just run a K&N Kit and it has no problems
Try googling independent studies for hp gains. K&n is usually not the best. Cheap yes. But sometimes their kits cause loss in power also. There should be info out there. Just hve to look for it.
For a less expensive exhaust system you can get a complete glass pack or turbo muffler exhaust system from LMC Truck for roughly $400 and hedman headers for just a couple hundred more. From what I've heard, those systems perform just as well as magnaflow and flowmasters for about half as much.
A Flowmaster muffler nets very little gain over stock; they just don't flow well at all. Throttle body spacers are an expensive gimmick that do absolutely nothing for Vortecs. I suggest contacting Justin at BlackBearPerformance.com and having him make you a customtune for your truck. It's $300 for the data-logging tune that scans how your specific truck runs to get the most out of the tune. It's WAY better than any chip since he's able to do far more and since it's specific to your truck. Retunes are free for as long as you own the truck (not including shipping), so you can have him adjust it for future modifications you make to the truck to get their full gain. It's probably the best bang for your buck modification you can get, especially compared to a "cold" air intake or exhaust system.
Bolt on? How about cut off lol. I cut my exhaust off under the cab of my '97 K1500 350. Its a true dual and cut off not far past the cats; no power gain (in fact there's a loss), but it sounds better than any exhaust you could put on there.
i have a 98 chevy and i cut the muffler off and there is a very big power loss im about to get dual super 44s.
cut the cats off too all they do is limit exhaust flow
try to find someone who has a turner program on a laptop
Put a set of alum heads w the rt cam sum toller rocker arms & a roller cam. Call the manufacturer like edelbrock & those dudes will tell you all kindsa stuff or ways to skin the cat. Then they can also give u a good estimate how much hp & torque youll get. I cant imagine that stuff about flow masters not being very well & even k&n air filters. I floated the valves the 1st 3times i ran the car w only changn the air cleaner. It made that much difference i had to get used to it hitn the higher rpms as fast.
