Best not to blame the messenger. Your mechanic was correct in the path to determine cause of this issue. How much pedal you have before this happens? It's happening straight away or just intermittently?

I'm having this same problem but with a 1997 k1500. It doesn't do it right away. It starts locking up after having to stop 3 or 4 times
