2014 Silverado window/door latch issue
ok guys I have a 2014 Z71 LT the door ajar
light came on for drivers rear door I took it
apart cleaned door latch (contact
cleaner/dielectric grease lithium grease)
put it all back together light went of but still
have no control to dome light when door is
opened and now the window on same
door will not work and also passenger front
window will not work I'm sure this is an
electrical/switch/relay issue can anyone
point me at a starting point dealer says it's
needs a door latch and a new wiring
harness in that door which I might would
bite on but they didn't take it apart I'm
assuming they diagnosed by computer?
But now with the new issues I'm unsure
any help would be greatly appreciated
since truck is 4000 miles out of warranty
and dealer wants 900 to fix just dome/latch
issues

check the wire harness that goes through the body to the door it will be a black accordian boot.pull the boot back and look for any troubled wires.
Thanks I'll check that later.does all the power run thru the drivers foot switch to all windows? Just asking because it's the drivers rear door with latch and window issue and then the passenger front door with just window issue.
our chevy truck just hit 40,000 miles and the same thing is happening on the dash board the drivers side rear door shows open and dome light won't go off even when the door is closed firmly
sounds like a lock actuator issue.
What was the out come of this? My 2014 just stared doing the same thing. Door says it's open and rear window doesn't work. Sounds like this should have been a recall.
My 2014 is doing the very same thing. Any answer to the problem yet?
Does anyone have an solution for this. I just tore the door apart and changed the for the latch. No luck.
I have a 2014 Silverado as well with the same issue. Checked all the fuses, but no luck....still searching for an answer.

Had the same issue with my ‘14 Sierra, dash indicated that “Rear driver’s side door adjar” even though securely shut. I narrowed the issue down to a wire that had come loose from the harness inside rubber boot. It was a solid black wire that broke fee from the plug where the harness plugs into the body of the truck. Pull the rubber boot free from truck body to expose the plug of the wiring harness, there should be a hinged clip that flips up (purple on my truck) flip it up and the harness should pull freely from truck body. The wire in question was the second one up from the bottom, I believe it is one of the wires that supply power to the window motor, it is a heavier gauge than the one above it and had completely broke fee of harness. I was able to jam it back into place for now. This solved the issue with the dash indicator and dome Lights staying on as well as the window in that door now works. I plan on soldering it back into place when I get home. It is a relatively easy fix if you are handy with a soldering iron.

I'm having the exact same problem. The dealership is asking $400.00 to order a new wiring harness. The engine light came on, then the rear drivers side door light came on for door ajar. and my interior lights would not shut off. I thankfully was able to shut lights off with the upper light switch but now I have no command start, no interior lighting and dash board is lit up with door ajar, and engine light. Took it to dealership. They gave two options: order part from the USA and should arrive in 3-4 weeks ($400.00) or allow service mechanic to play with the wires without a new part for $489.55? This includes the 2.5 hours labour. So thank you Jeff. Hopefully we solved my issue.
I just fixed my wife's 2014 Silverado drivers rear door with this problem and found a broken green wire and several others shaft and breaking in two. I was able to repair it with one butt connector and some liquid tape then raped it in electric tape. Chevy put a cap on the door side of the wire harness that stopped the wires from being able to move and causes the wires to break. (Remove the cap that makes the wires turn 90° in the door side, leave the other half) You have to cut the protective boot off to repair and then super glue back together when you get done.
The big black wire broke off of the harness of mine just like jeffsoucek said. It looked like the zap strap holding all the wires together might have been the cause. Going to try soldering the wire back in tomorrow
So the black wire in question broke off of the harness so we ran a wire through it and connected it on both sides. Problem solved, passenger rear window working and door open signal off. If we had a connector for the wire to re-connect into the harness that would've been easier but didn't have the part. Hope this helps. You'll know if it's the black wire because when you take the boot off it'll be loose.
GURUKWBLP I have the exact same black wire loose what can I do to fix it
I have the same issue where the connector itself has broken. So far I've not been able to locate a replacement pin. Can anyone provide a lead on where to find this?
I ended up connecting the big wire directly to the other side bypassing the pin. Worked like a charm!

My wire on 2015 was broke in half in the middle of the boot between door and body.. couple butt connectors and a 2” wire back in business!

Replace the entire door assembly. 60 bucks from Chevy. Black wired was broke on my 2014 Silverado and I couldn’t roll window down or lock. Now back to normal.
Wires are broken in the boot between the door and B pillar. Just fixed mine.

Anyone know the part number for the pins to replace them or add new ones into the plugs

I have a 2014 Silverado Lt Z71. No power to left the passenger rear door. I pulled the boot harness out of the door body and where the wires turn 90 degrees remove the protective cap and the little green wire was broken in half, so I sodered a piece in and that fixed the issue. Good to go. Don't waste your time trying to figure out if it's a fuse. its 99% prob in the wire harness between the door and the body.

I replaced the driver side rear door wiring harness and still have the problem. Door still showing ajar all the time and the lock wont work on switch with others and driver switch left rear rolls both rear windows down together. Window lock switch controls rear driver side door lock.
