which ATF fluid to use and can I mix?

I have put about a litre of ATF+4 in my Ford E350 motorhome before realising
that it should be Mercon V. Can I continue to fill with the Mercon V (it was
totally empty due to changing the seal) therefore it only has maybe just under
a litre of the ATF+4. Please advise.

You need to drain all the fluid and put the correct type in. Don't start it if you have not already.
