2003 Impreza STi Swap?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So if I am able to get an 03 Impreza STi with 250k KM for $4,500 CAD, should I
do an engine swap and what engine would be best? The car is completely
stock except for a new stage 2 clutch, cold air intake, and magnaflow exhaust.
Is it worth it for that price and is the engine swap a good idea?

What is wrong with the engine? Most people buy a Subaru and then want an STi engine swap.

Nothing’s wrong with the engine. It’s just old and has a high mileage. Is it worth it to spend almost 5 grand on a car with 250k KM? I know they are pretty strong up to 350k but is it worth my time and money? Do you know if I’ll encounter issues with an engine mileage that high? I’m looking to keep the car for a few years (basically to run it to the ground so it should last me a while without any issues).

NEVER rebuild a Subaru block...always asking for trouble. Swap in a used motor or just drive this one until you throw a rod and start over again. DO relaize that playing with old "WRXes" is a pocket-drainer.
