Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had my 89 IROC motor completely rebuilty w/headers and the works.  New transmission, can't wait to drive.  Been parked for over 2 years since all this expensive work done.  It is now at the 4th mechanic who cannot figure out what is wrong.  When 35-40 mph computer shuts down, engine light comes on; smells like pure gas coming out back.  Just been told "it's electrical", but no one can figure out.  Please Please help!

check the voltage going to the computer, sounds like the computer is getting too much voltage causing it to shut down to protect itself
