what are the best tires for Chicago all season driving a lot in city and on highway

am looking at all season assurance tires, but not sure what handles best for snow and ice
and salt in city, and wet traction as well as dry with a good ride...is there a good firestone
or simply goodyear that is best?

2012 CRV with 113 k miles. Started making a metallic sqealing sound in the driver's side rear yesterday afternoon. Worse in stop-and-go traffic, extremely worse when reversing. Seems to lessen when driving on highway. Not the brakes, taking in for service Friday but worried I'm doing more damage by driving. Any ideas? 2 Answers

Here's something I never thought of: I was walking by my car today and was able to see over the front passenger side tire all the way through to the snow on the other side of the car. Is something missing? I checked other cars and in no other case could I see all the way through. I'm suspecting something that prevents grit from getting from tires to engine has broken or fallen off. This is a Honda CRV. 2 Answers
