What color should I look for when I check my oil so I know
if its ready for an oil change?

I would change it based on miles, not color. I recommend every 3,000 miles.

I mostly agree with F_O_R, changing oil by its color would be foolish. Changing it every 5,000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first would be the way to go.

You should change your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles. This is what is recommended for any vehicle. Ask any auto mechanic. Never go by color. But oil will turn dark brown to even black when dirty.
