My trunk will not automatically shut anymore

2008 GS 350 Lexus: my trunk will no longer shut automatically ( kids would
slam it). The dash flashes that my trunk is not shut when in fact it is. The trunk
release button in the cab nor the remote will operate the trunk anymore. I
have to manually unlock it. Can this be reset or do I need to take it to
dealership for fixing?

It going to cost you a boat load of money to fix, use the Trunk Valet Switch and see if that's works...see below , copy and paste...

problem solved!!! all we needed to do was unplug neg cable from the battery for 5 minutes to reset the ECU. trunk motor runs again, but it also reset all previous settings for the cars electrical stuff, seats, mirrors, radio, ect....
Rebecca.. thank you so much for telling us how you solved the problem! I had the same issue with my 2009 GS350 and took it to the dealership. They wanted almost 1500$ bc they said the part was bad but after looking through different sites online trying to find the part cheaper I came across your question and began reading what people were saying. I tried what you did and it worked! So glad I didnt let the dealership fix it and rip me off for that much money!! You are a saint!! Lol

For me, the reset works for 1-2 times but then it won't open again until I again disconnect the battery. Any longer lasting fix? E.g. replacing a fuse or a relaybor something?
