Would it be safe to use a synthetic or synthetic blend oil in my 2006 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder that has 85,000 miles on it? Would I be better off staying with conventional oil?

If you're not having any problems with conventional then stick with it. I'm guessing you're asking because you've heard that synthetic oil contains detergents that can clean off the "gunk" that standard oil leaves behind on internal components and valves. Some people experience leaks after switching to synthetic because of that process. I use synthetic on both of my vehicles (and many other past vehicles) and never had problems - it also lets me drive longer without needing to change the oil. If you read responses from others with questions similar to this you will see a mixed bag when it comes to results from switching to synthetic or synblend. Take your car to your Toyota dealer and ask for their opinion when you do your next oil change and I'm sure they'll steer you in the right direction.
What if the Camry is used? I just bought a 2006 Camry LE, I dont know what type oil the previous owners were using, trad or syn.
