What do I need to know/replace during motor swap

Asked by Chris May 27, 2019 at 05:12 PM about the 2006 Toyota Camry SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My old motor seized in my 2006 solara, it's the 3.3
ltr V6 and I have a jew long block on its way here. I
was wondering, since there seem to be no guides it
walk through easily found online. What do I need to
be sure to replace while I have the engine and trans
out of the car? (ie: seals, gaskets, parts)

Allow me to add, this is not my first rodeo. I've done swaps in the past. But this is a nicer/newer car and I want to be sure it's done right. I know to disconnect the battery. What I'm asking is, what gaskets, seals, parts should I buy in preparation? Rear main seal? Trans seal? Obviously oil and filter. But should I get a new fuel filter? And is it important that I replace the valve cover gaskets on the new engine? The replacement is used with 96k miles and I'm putting my transmission on it. Can I reuse my current cv axles? Or will I need to replace them once I remove them. They're nearing the end of their life but not quite there yet. These are the kinds of things I need to know.. Not the very basic "female" instructions like "disconnect the battery"
