A lean condition means a lack of fuel. It could be in "limp mode". How's the fuel filter and fuel rail pressure? Did the truck have a 302 engine before the rebuild?

The ECU will send it into limp mode when one of the sensors is out of range or maybe not hooked up. When I was looking for reasons or circumstances that would trigger the "Safe" or "Limp" mode, I did find a forum where you might get more specific answers - http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum

Would'nt undoing the battery reset that? Thanks for the link, I will go check that out. Did you find any reasons for safe or limp mode?
