No ignition fire, cranks but doesn't start

I think it's an electrical problem because we had problems with the fan before but took it to a mechanic and had them rewired and they cut wires that I don't think needed to be cut. Check engine light is on. Fuel pump works fine. It stopped starting here and there, but if you gave it some time (a few hours to a day) it would start. Now it doesn't start at all, it just cranks. We hooked a code reader up to it and it said that it was a purge valve issue (P0443) but for what I understand that is a air flow problem that would not make the car unable to start. However, if that is the problem I would be happy to buy one, I just don't want to waste any more money on this car. My car has been sitting for almost a year now and I would like to start driving it again before I force myself to sell it for junk. Thank you.

I was changing belt on my 2004 ss Monte carlo as I had a wrench in the pully tensioner the wrench hit the positive terminal and sparked ...car started before that now that belt back on car only cranks over no start ...could I have blown something when I grounded out??
