had a bad fuel pump and sat for 3 months. got it started and took off down the road, 1st, and 2nd fine then shifted smoothly into third and no power. I didn't try 4th or 5th though. Could be lack of transmission oil I didn't notice a big puddle where it was setting and had no problems before it sat so long.

No power would be the engine, not the transmission. Your fuel system may be gummed up from sitting. Try a good fuel system cleaner and maybe a tuneup and filter change.

I suspect it just seems like it has good power in low gears. Check the gear oil level and top it off if necessary but I seriously doubt that the trans causes low engine power.
