Why are my rpms running high when I give gas

Asked by GreasyKade Jul 09, 2020 at 07:59 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Chevy 1500 4x4 with a 5.3 engine, I
pull out fine but when I hit 30 mph my rpms
shoot up high, I lose power, I let off gas, tap it
slow, I get back power but the faster I go my
rpms get higher and higher and stay there
until I let off gas

I have a 2011 Suburban LT (5.3 L Vortex LMG engine) that’s started doing the same thing. Happens when I’m just taking off or I have to accelerate while on the freeway. No check engine or any other warning light comes on, I’ve seen several post with similar issues....several answers....I yet to see what anyone’s solution was.
