Wanting to replace the engine in my 2001 Chevy Silverado

What do you consider best? Let me break it down for you. If you are considering best price, stick with installing another exact 4.3L engine. That alone, finding a used engine and paying someone to swap the old with the new will cost you over $3K. If you are considering best for performance, install a 5.3L or 6.0L V8. you can find a donor truck to make the swap. It would include a used engine, wiring harness, trans, driveshaft, ECM, etc. That will be over $10K when you are all said and done. But if you do want to go that route, I would consider just buying a new truck with the bigger engine.
Thanks, what I mean by best is what new engine would fit this year and model of truck the best. I already have a new truck, this is my extra bad weather vehicle that I drive and want it to be just as dependable as the new, it has a great body and interior for this year of PU. $10,000 does not seem bad to me.
