ENGINE LIGHT ON

Ok, I have a 2005 Silverado. My problem is that the
engine light recently came on. The truck has been
running just fine. I checked the gas cap, and to my
surprise it was very loose. I tightened it and drove
around for a bit. No problems with power or
roughness. The light has not gone off. I tried
disconnecting the battery to see if it would reset.
Left it disconnected for about 30 minutes. Hooked
it back up, and the light is still on. Any
suggestions??

Have the vehicle scanned for trouble codes. More than likely it would have to do with the gas cap being loose. An emissions code would come up. Write it down. A parts store can scan for trouble codes. Once you get the code you can post it back here. Also then have the code cleared, this has to be done with the scanner.
