cannot find oil pickup tube

On the 4.6L V8, the oil pump is at the front of the engine. The pickup tube is attached to the oil pump on the passenger side of the engine by two bolts. The pickup tube runs almost the entire length of the engine block. The oil pan cannot be removed with the oil pickup tube attached to the oil pump if the engine is still in the car. Remove the bolts from the oil pan and let it drop. Remove the two bolts from the oil pump and drop the pickup tube into the oil pan. The oil pan can now be removed from the car.
