Why does my battery meter on the dash read lower in the brackets

Asked by Chris Aug 26, 2018 at 04:46 PM about the 1995 Ford Crown Victoria Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My battery meter on the dash reads lower in the brackets. I had my battery replaced because it was old but it is still reading lower in the brackets. Not quite at L but maybe a 1/2 of the way up from the L. I had the voltage checked on my alternater and it stay between 14.4 and 14.5. Battery holds a charge and reads at 13.5 when car is off and when car is on reads at 14.5. I'm so confused or is it fine that it reads this way?

When it's running, it should be in the center. You might have a bad connection or gauge.
