A decent shape, moderate mileage 2006 Escape will go for about $7 to $8,000. You are going to have to call that "needs engine" and ask $5,000 and see if you get any replies. If somebody offers $4k, take it. Please, please be careful with craigslist, it's infested with scams, you will get replies that say "I want to buy it now, give me your bank account and routing number so I can deposit money in your account before somebody buys it" ..I an not saying you are naive and will fall for that, just telling you what will happen...and if somebody wants to come see it, do NOT be alone when you show the car. Bring husband, boyfriend, friend, neighbor... a man with to be there with you. It's sad but that's the world these days.
Thank you so much. Now I'm.kinda worried this is the first time I've been on my own. I'm not even sure its the head gasket there is no.water in my oil but it over heated bad and hasn't started since I paid someone to put in a new radiator then after that all the dash lights radio etc were dead then another person said " give me 400 and I GUARANTEE it will work.I was stupid gave him.400 cash he worked on it 20 min maybe said he will be back in.morning never saw him again so I'm out about 800 and still won't start ugh frustrating
I had absolutely no water in the radiator when it died I had a brand new radiator put in the problem is it wont start since I have paid a couple people that I.obviously couldn't trust. They dnt know whats wrong, a nice man from church looked at it he said he thinks its the head gasket not sure tho then I paid to have it put on a machine that reads codes or something he said it wont even register on it probably cracked block but there was no water in oil I just can't afford it anymore I'm newly divorced and need transportation bad :(
Yep, listen to Tom. He has it better than mine. That's awful that somebody did that to you and even if you could track the crook down he would just deny everything..for what it's worth I am terribly sorry that happened to you. If you can't find a mechanic you can absolutely trust there is always the dealer....more expensive yes but at least they are not going anywhere
Thank you both idk I moved to practically a ghost town right before this happened its in the middle of nowhere I need transportation this happened almost 2 months ago and I dnt know anyone there is nothing around here the shop that checked it out said it will be at least 380 just to pull engine apart to " maybe find our what is wrong I can't afford anymore and I got laid off but am told I can come back in 2 weeks yay but I can't even get to work there is 1 bus in 12 hours here and no.garbage service in this town u have to drive ur garbage to the dump I'm gonna sell it so start at 5000 and pray right? Thanks guys
