Our 2003 Expedition just shuts off as we are driving. We have taken it in for repair, but no one can find a problem with it. This is frightening because the power steering and brakes don't work when it shuts itself off.

I have 2 2003 expeditions and one of them had the same problem. My mechanic found a bad fuse box. The fuel pump relay is permanently attached to the fuse box. So the relay would loose connection and stall. After he replaced the fuse box it never had a problem with it again.
Thank you for your response! I will suggest the next mechanic check that out. It is frustrating taking it in and they can't find anything wrong. They are kind of at a loss at this point.
Had same problem with my 04 expedition. After replacing fuel pump at a mechanic shop and $1200 dollars later still didn't fix it so they decided to check fuse panel box almost $500 and low and behold that was the problem.
This was very helpful maybe that’s the problem with my truck my mechanic has done everything except checked the fuse box maybe I need to address him with this information thanks a million
How much is this fuse box and can I get it at auto zone?
My 2004 expedition is doing the same thing. Last week it shut off on the freeway. (very scary) After we made it to the side road safely I noticed a smell coming from fuse box near the passenger side. My question is, do I need to replace the whole fuse box or just a certain fuse? If a fuse needs to be replaced how do I know which one? I appreciate the help.
Replace the whole fuse box. This is really not that difficult. You can get a new one complete with all the relays and fuses for around $400 if you search online.
