even manually? my guess is the connecting rod shook loose, or fell out of position. not a big fix, but with the way those doors are designed, it can be a pain in the ass to get your hand in there and put it back into place. if you know what you're doing, pull off the access panel and take a look. - if the problem is with the electronic - side, the actuator is likely bad, or disconnected somehow.
Yes even manually. I was able to move the latch inside door and it moves to lock position but then I can't close door. I am in the NY area and we had a show storm so I will try what you mentioned. Do you think a little WD40 will do the trick? Thank you!
Ok thank you both for your help... I will let you know.
Follow up to my original question - The latch was in the permanent locked position. Had to pull off the panel to access the actuator. Not an easy thing to do. The actuator was burnt out. Need to replace that. Was able to disconnect everything to the door. The door is permanently lock until the replacement part comes in. Thanks for all your help!
My parents have a 2006, just after the warranty expired one of the back door locks went (had to be replaced); 3 months later the other back door lock went. As seniors on a fixed income they weighed the odds and chose not to spend the $300.00 to have that door lock repaired (and as a result have not been able to lock their car since). Today the driver's door lock went. Any ideas?

My passenger back door Ford Focus 2002 does not work. Any suggestions.
Had similar problem on the rear door of my 2004 focus, ie would not lock with the remote or manually. Fix was very simple; a light tap with a hammer using a socket extension on the three bolts that hold the lock actuator in place (on the end of the door). Must have freed up the jammed mechanism. Working perfectly again!
Thank you GuruZR8KK answered 4 months ago, baNG on
GuruZR8KK I have had a broken door lock for over two years, the result of having been rear ended at a stoplight. I was quoted a minimum of $500.00 to have it fixed, which I couldn’t afford. I just went out and applied your method and it is fixed! I cannot thank you enough for sharing.
thanks GuruZR8KK. It worked on my 2015 Focus. Saved me from taking the door apart. Much appreciated!

? How do I get rear passenger door panel off of 2006 ford focus when I can't even get the door open

I used an extension rod from a ratchet wrench set, and with a ball peen hammer gave each of the screws on the latch mechanism on the back of the door a sharp couple of raps each. I've done this twice; works every time.
