New neutral safety switch

They are in a certain position but can be moved before install or while installing, I recently purchased one,(97 sable, similar but not exact as yours) it was not in the position of the one shown in my repair book. I noticed it and went to put it the same position shown in the book and it did not want to go to that position (my Style could move) so I took it and my book back to store and told them they looked at it and pulled another from the shelf and it was just like the one in the book, told me somebody may have brought it back for refund and it was broken by them or was a defect from the part maker but either way it worked fine.
