thumping noise coming from radiator hose

If you're certain it's the hose making the noise, it might be caused by partially collapsing or sucking air. Go through your cooling system and check the basics - bad or stuck thermostat, bad radiator cap, collapsed hoses, air in the system. It can take persistence to get all the trapped air out of a cooling system.
