Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2004 Ford Ranger, while driving I hear lots of noise coming from the
rear. At a stop I wiggled both rear tires and both gave a clunking noise. Are
the bearings out on both tires?

Does it clank when you put it in drive or reverse also ? If so than your u joints are bad.if not check the gear oil level in the rear end housing could be low or spider gear may be worn.to check the bearings on rear you have to raise the truck off the ground and pull on tire in and out to see any clanking or ?
