Have any of the PT Cruisers been recalled for overheating problems??? It seems to be a common problem no matter what year the car is!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2001 PT Cruiser runs hot often but no always. When I turn it off it sounds like water boiling. I changed the thermostat and replaced the radiator cap it did not help at all. While looking up this problem I saw a pattern, this seems to be a common problem with all of the PT Cruisers no matter what year it is. Has there been a recall to correct this issue by Chrysler?

If the radiator cap and cooling fan is okay, I would do 2 things....remove the radiator and clean the leaves and crap that builds up between the radiator and the A/C condenser. Purge all air out of cooling system. This should help.
One step further, change all the coolant after a good flush, check for leaks and put in the new 50/50 mix.
If none of that works, have someone check your head gasket and water pump.
I have a 2002 PT Cruiser Chrysler and I had a new water pump install a month-and-a-half later it was 105 degrees out and I was driving 5 miles and I heard the antifreeze boiling backed up in my overflow bucket and eventually the gauge was very hot and I took it to the mechanic to have it fixed and they tried everything new thermostat new hose new everything is a found out I blew the head gasket a lot of PT Cruisers are having overheating issues
The original housing for the thermostat has a manufacturer flaw in it. What you need to do is take out the thermostat and put some JB Weld in to even out the housing parts for the thermostat. Let it dry. Go ahead and put the thermostat back in and put in fluid in the radiator just to top it off. This part that holds the thermostat has a flaw that Chrysler has never caught or fixed. It is an all of the PT Cruisers.

I has the same problem with my 2005 Pt Cruiser, I change the following Thermostat, Radiator cap, Cooling fan, nit of that help, the problem was a bad Raiditor , most of the internal lines were badly clogged and could not be unclog, just brought a new radiator at Autozone problem solved.
