Adding coolant goes directly to the crankcase

Asked by Dan Jun 19, 2014 at 07:09 PM about the 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2002 Touring model w 100K. Replaced a blown head gasket and once it was reassembled, put the oil in and the coolant in, but the coolant went straight to the crankcase and into the oil pan. I'm befuddled!

It would be difficult to misline the gasket and there isn't a lower intake anything. As fast as I pour it in, it goes just as fast in to the oil pan.

Cracked block? Pressure test the radiator with air from a compressor regulated to 10 psi and feel for the leak.
