Van runs, drives and idles well but makes odd buzzing sound when on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
It starts and drives fine, Idles good and everything. The last 3 or 4 days it's
been making a buzzing whining sound up around the belt. Can't figure out
what is wrong. No obvious problems or issues.
Don't have a lot of money for a mechanic or parts but I keep it in good shape
as I'm able to and end up doing a like of diy work on it.

A relay may "buzz" when faulty or operating below proper voltage. Some computer modules can also "buzz" when going bad. If you say it's coming from the belt area, try loosening the serpentine belt tensioner and spinning all the pulleys by hand listen/feel for a bad pulley. The alternator is another good candidate for buzzing, the voltage regulator can be going bad.
DOES YOUR ALT HAVE A CLUTCH BUILT IN THE PULLEY. IF IT DOES AND YOU HAVE NO BATTERY LIGHT ON YOU MIGHT JUST NEED AN ALT CLUTCH A LOT CHEAPER THAN THE ALT
Took it to autozone and was told it's the power steering pump. I'm not sure if I should believe the dude because he had just gotten off break and didn't seem like he cared either way.
IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL EITHER WAY AND THE WINNING NOISE SOUNDS DIFFERENT. THEN YOU MOST LIKELY DO NEED A POWER STEERING PUMP. OR IF ITS LOW ON STEERING FLUID IT WILL WHINE. IF ITS FULL AND MAKES THE NOISE THEN THE PUMP IS BAD
