2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Engine Temperature Light

Asked by MWalt60906 Jun 22, 2015 at 06:54 PM about the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

While driving my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan the engine temperature gauge went up to
high, warning light came on, and the AC switched itself to recirculate.  After sitting in a
parking lot for about 1/2 an hour, checking belts and fans, I drove home with no issues.
Tried driving with AC off, AC on, temperature gauge never moved off the middle.

I am experiencing same problem (but with following differences): -2005 Dodge Grand Caravan -Not related to AC being on or off -Apparently seems to be "triggered" when accelerating rapidly (e.g entering highway) -Do not have to wait so long (1/2 hour...) before restarting the car (and temperature guage going back to normal)

Not vehicle specific, but lower radiator hose collapsing can cause this symptom. The fix is just a new hose, especially one that contains a stainless steel coil to prevent collapse.

Also could be thermostat sticking or...there is a metal prong resistor block that talks to ur computer and electric fan. When this part goes out it wont turn ur electric fan on when heating up. It's an easy fix part is $30 Dorman 902-310 Radiator Fan Relay. If it's not this I would still replace it. Common part that goes out.
