my truck died on me going down the highway, everything is dead

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i was going 60 mph down the highway my truck completely shut off, the engine , electronics everything, will not turn over or even click. we checked the fuses , looked for a bare wire that could of shorted everything, for giggles we were going to try to jump it but when he was going to ground the negative cable on his jeep to metal it was arching too much. we had to pull it home and then i noticed the gauges were stuck on when the truck shut down, as mph was stuck on 70, gas gauge at 1/2 tank etc. Could it be the computer ? Please help

Ok first make sure you have 12 volts at the battery, if that's good then look at the starter and have it check to make sure its in working condition, if the starter is good have the alternator load tested.

you should charge the batt. newer vehicles don't like the power surges from giving jumps , surprised the jeep didn't blow something , I think you have a wire shorting out somewhere better take a closer look
