2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 5.3l Auto,Transmission slipping /

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 gmc 1500 z71 5.3l transmission started
acting up it will shift though all the gears but seems to
kick free when if on gas to hard or RPM gets above 2500.
Fluid level is good, no burnt smell and clear with red tint.
Probably due for a service  and new screen since I've only
had truck few months and not sure when it was changed
last. Could this be problem or torque converter issue?

I honestly don't think it's clutch bands. Which would mean I shouldn't need a full rebuild hopefully. But I'm lost when it comes to transmission, I can fix just about any other issue that might arise though. Thanks for the advice guys.
