Gmc. Rear brake lights won't work

Asked by Houndawg82 Jun 10, 2018 at 06:36 AM about the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 SL 4WD Standard Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've been reading a few topics on here but not sure
if mine falls in one? My 3rd brake light works (cab
light), all signals and reverse / lights, however my
brake lights do not? I've checked bulbs and I've
seen topics saying switch? I've been told there is a
switch under the brake and one near the rear
bumper?

I have a similar problem. I have hazards and turn signals but no brake lights and no reverse lights and bulbs were replaced this morning. The wire to the brake switch I looks fine and the fuses are intact. The wire to the tow connector is still also intact. I assume it is some in the braking wire system, but how is that effecting reverse lights also? Trying to avoid a costly diagnostic in Los Angeles. I can guess at it for free.
