NO Brakes 1999 gmc sierra k2500 7.4 with 4 whl drive

Asked by Bonita Jul 26, 2016 at 03:13 PM about the 1999 GMC Sierra 2500 2 Dr SLE 4WD Standard Cab LB HD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Searched for: help, my trick was stolen and abused. I got back with a lot of
damage. I'm not so worried about the body damage, I need for pulling horse
trailer. Other wise my horses will need to be pulling my truck. I know was in
river and water wwas almost up to doors, there is a lift kit but not real big.
The cops called me and had it towed home. The power steering pump had
leaked some out and brake fluid low. I started the truck and the brake fluid
was squirting out by tightened the loose nut and that seemed to fix the
leaked.  That was 2 weeks ago and now I have no brakes at,  just nothing,
no resistance at all.

Some braking systems are independent, and need to be looked over every inch there are many components and everyone is crucial in performance to ensure your safety and that of others over the hwy, best thing to do is get a helper buy lots of brake fluid and load up the master cylinder and track dwn the leak or leaks

If your HydroBoost has failed you will have brakes with the engine off, but not if it is on. Diesels and other heavy duty pickups (GMC 2500, 3500 and similar in Ford and Dodge) likely use the power steering pump to augment the brake system because there isn't enough vacuum to do it reliably. Rumor has it that: Frozen/seized rear drum adjusters may be a culprit; and A failed seal in the HydroBoost which is said to be diagnosable by no brake fluid disturbance in the forward reservoir of the brake fluid while the brake pedal is depressed. The forward reservoir is for the rear brakes. I am hoping that having the auto adjusters working and adjusted correctly will result in a little movement in the forward reservoir.
