Was the pump new or used? I can't remember for sure, but the sending unit may be attached to the pump, so it's possible your "new" pump has a bad sending unit. Here in the states we have a fuel additive called Chevron Techron that some people have said will clean the sending unit so it will register accurately.
your fuel reader in the tank is the likely culprit. Had the same issue with my 1998 audi. after a few years the wire on it in the tank rots off. you can do one of 2 things repair it or get a new one. I recomend a new one but fixing it can get you by a while longer. Just take it out and resolder the wire back on and it should work properly again. replacing it with a new one will make it work lke new tho.
It's the fuel gage that's gone wrong there is a little motor in the fuel gauge what gets stuck
I had this same problem. Half way through 2002 Audi changed the design on the fuel pump by swapping the two wires connected to the 'float' mechanism on the fuel pump. This swap reverses the signal to the fuel gauge. So when you fill up, the gauge needle is at E. When you drive, it climbs to F. What you need to do it check the VIN number and find the correct fuel pump and replace it.
